Mailbox Monday

It is a short Mailbox Monday list this week, because only one book came into my house:

People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks

I was a little bored by March (my review is here), although Brooks won the Pulitzer Prize for it, so I was reluctant to read this one.  But I've now read several reviews and I've been converted -- it sounds great.

It will count as one of my Bibliopholic Books.

  2. Thanks Beth! I read just the first page and I really want to dive in. But there are several books I need to get to first. My Guilt List is getting too long!

  5. I enjoyed this book, though some reviewers didn't care for the personal life of the protagonist getting tangled into the story.

"March," I read and thought well-written, but very presumptuous in the way it took great liberties with Mr. March, making him into some one the original author would not have approved up.

  10. I've read award-winners like that- everyone seemed to love them but me! I hope that this one is better for you, and I'll look for your review!

  15. I have this one on my shelf waiting to be read so I look forward to your thoughts on it. I read a non-fiction book by Brooks earlier this year and liked it.

  16. I juist finished it and, while it wasn't the most well written book I've ever read, I found that I really enjoyed the story. I love history and the preservation of books, so I really loved how she traced the history of the book. It is loosely based on a real haggadah whose illustrations can be found online. I really enjoyed looking at those!
