Opening Sentence of the Day: Corked
"When it comes to champagne and our family, my father has only one absolute rule: We do not drink it when we are sad."
Corked by Kathryn Borel.
This didn't get very good reviews, but I am going into it with an open mind. I love the cover and the idea of driving through French wine country appeals to me. We'll see how it goes. Good first sentence at least.

That's a good rule to have! :-)ReplyDelete
That is a nice first sentence. I hope you enjoy Corked regardless of the negative reviews. I think the setting sounds very interesting anyway.ReplyDelete
Yeah, great opening sentence! I hope you'll enjoy it! Happy reading!ReplyDelete
I actually think that's a hreat opening line , and the cover is really good. I have one rule with champagne, I only allow myself to drink it at weddings or the races!ReplyDelete
Good luck with this book. I've looked at it and even started it but it's still on my shelf to be read!ReplyDelete
Thanks for all the visits and comments. I skedaddled out of town Friday as soon as I put this post up and am just back now to check comments.ReplyDelete
I read this book yesterday -- a quick read, for sure. It reminded me not to put much stock in amazon reviews when the criticism is based on personal taste. I thought this book was thoroughly entertaining, interesting, and well-written.
