A Day of Christmas Romance

No book blogging today because Hubby and I have taken the day off work and are having a Day of Christmas Romance before heading out of town to join my family tomorrow. We are going to spend the whole day together doing Christmas things: He'll wrap presents; I'll bake cookies; we are going out for dim sum lunch (because nothing says "Merry Christmas!" like a shrimp-stuffed shark fin dumpling); and we'll have a cosy champagne dinner in front of the fire and unwrap presents.

It was funny to see the the reactions of people at work when I explained -- or tried to -- the Day of Christmas Romance concept. All the women smiled, sighed, and said it sounded wonderful. All the men gave me the same nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more routine. A holiday example of how women's brains and men's brains do not work the same.

Vive la différence!

And Merry Christmas!

  1. Right now, my brain is hoping I don't forget to add tags and bows to the gifts I sort of wrapped for my wife. Then my brain will switch over to the chicken I intend to fix for tonight's meal. We're also looking forward to some holiday-related down time today before seeing family on Christmas day.

So there goes the stereotype that men are all thinking of their wives and/or lovers sitting beneath the tree wearing nothing but tissue paper and a gift card that says, "Unwrap me."

  2. Well, there's the fantasy and then there's the reality. :)

I poke fun at the men in my office, but my husband had the same reaction when I told him we were having a Day of Christmas Romance. He just thinks he'll have a better shot at hanky panky under the Christmas tree if he wraps gifts and feeds me first.

    He's right.

  3. Christmas Romance doesn't work with a five year old in the house but Christmas Love is all around! Have a fantastic day today with romance and tomorrow with your family. Merry Christmas!

  4. A Monty Python reference. Now I know I've found a good blog. hehe

I'm with Kristen M. romance with a nine month old is impossible. If she falls asleep and stays asleep for once maybe.

  5. Have a wonderful day. Merry Christmas!

  6. What a lovely concept! A Day of Christmas Romance! Merry Christmas!

  7. OOh, la la . . a day of romance~ Enjoy!

  8. Happy Christmas & Merry new Year!

  9. I love the different reactions from the men and women. :) How wonderful that you get a day of romance before the holiday!
