YOUR BOOK BEGINNING
MY BOOK BEGINNING
I must have been ten years old when my mother took me to see Mommie Dearest and then bragged to her friends that I'd laughed through the wire hanger scene. The End of Eve: A Memoir by Ariel Gore, published by Hawthorne Books.
Ariel Gore is a writer of memoir, fiction, and contemporary contemplation, and the spirited editor of Hip Mama magazine. In The End of Eve, Gore's latest memoir, she tells the tender, dark, sad, and funny story of caring for her dying mother. It's a great book and deserving of the buzz it has generated.
This sounds good. I would love to pick it up.....
ReplyDeleteThat cover scares me, as does that beginning!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen or read 'Mommie Dearest' but it is definitely on my list. I don't know what the wire scene is but I really hope nothing bad happens! Great choice and thanks for hosting :)

My Book Beginnings
I'm intrigued. I know what the wire scene is and I'm curious to find out what she found funny about it! It sounds like a thought provoking book.
ReplyDeleteDo you know, I don't believe that I have ever read a memoir. I am firmly fixed in fiction. I hope you are enjoying the book. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds interesting. Don't know much about Mommie Dearest. I'll have to Google. Right after adding this to my TBR.
ReplyDeleteHere is our Book Beginning!
I love that movie as twisted as it is. Faye Dunaway at her best.
ReplyDeleteI would like to read this one. The beginning is interesting. Although, I've never seen Mommy Dearest. I do remember all the talk about it.
