MY BOOK BEGINNING
Awareness of the problem of the sexual abuse of minors by clergy within the Catholic Church moved to the forefront at the beginning of this century.-- Understanding the Abuse of Adults by Catholic Clergy and Religious by Kathryn R, Byrne.
In my law practice at O'Donnell Clark & Crew, I work with many people who were abused as children by clergy and other trusted adults. I do not usually work with people who were sexually abused as adults, which is what this book addresses. I am interested to learn more.
I have a book beginning today from Doug Peacock's Walking It Off. Thanks for hosting!

ReplyDeleteHere's MY FRIDAY MEMES POST
ReplyDeleteJulia: Thanks! I added your link now that Mr. Linky is there.
ReplyDeleteBonnie: No, I am really hosting. I just had pre-scheduduled several posts and then forgot to change them! Done now. So they are all going to work just fine going forward.
Laurel-Rain Snow: ME! See my comment to Bonnie, above.
I think this is the first time I've seen the meme! I linked mine.
ReplyDeleteUnderstanding the Abuse of Adults sounds interesting.
Hi Gilion,
ReplyDeleteIt seems perfectly clear that you are hosting this meme and doing a great job of it, thanks for taking over the reins.
I'm afraid that I couldn't read your book this week, no matter how strong its opening lines were. It would just be too emotional, upsetting when I read about the individual stories of distress and pure unadulterated anger and hatred towards the clergy concerned. I certainly wouldn't even consider having to have any dealings with the perpetrators of such heinous crimes, I take my hat off to you.
My first lines are of a much more frivolous nature:

Have a good weekend,
Yvonne
It isn't an easy book to read.
ReplyDeleteRape (in adults) is (I think so) the only one crime that "judge" the victims...
:(
I just came across this meme today and thought I would participate. I just linked my post.
ReplyDeleteYour book sounds like an intense read.
That is a very hot topic and does not seem like it will go away anytime soon. The days of sweeping it under the rug are gone.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an intense and emotional read! I just linked mne.
