I really must get a review up for it one of these days, as I did make notes at the time of reading.

Her characters are manyYvonne @ Fiction Books Reviewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14821114534056290177noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4508267865632365231.post-42045318701253761622011-03-11T22:31:17.453-08:002011-03-11T22:31:17.453-08:00Very well, I'll give her a try. D. James books are only about 1/3 of the way along that continuum. The early James, at least, still have the British post-war, stiff-upper-lip, solve-it-all-in-the-drawing-room feel, but with a bit of an edge to them.

Rural View: I Gilion at Rose City Readerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18080293172467000794noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4508267865632365231.post-21368674198752531362011-03-11T07:38:16.268-08:002011-03-11T07:38:16.268-08:00I've been in love with Adam Dalgleish for year...I've been in love with Adam Dalgleish for years. P.D. James is one of my best loved authors and I can't imagine the world without her so I'm happy she's still working at such an advanced age. Her characters are her forte, so I don't mind a little dragging in the plot.Barbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04179027379034179865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4508267865632365231.post-78151822030675045792011-03-10T22:20:54.211-08:002011-03-10T22:20:54.211-08:00Hmm, I wasn't thinking about chronology so muc...Hmm, I wasn't thinking about chronology so much as the continuum from droll drawing-room detectivery to grim, squalid, the-world-is-going-to-hell-but-for-some-reason-we-must-hold-out-against-these-savage-crimes detectivery. Unless you are implying that that shift has progressed at a regular rate over time?Michael5000https://www.blogger.com/profile/10148584819327475239noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4508267865632365231.post-69644558301571340452011-03-10T21:30:45.310-08:002011-03-10T21:30:45.310-08:00ruthhill74: Him is a her -- I should have specifie...ruthhill74: Him is a her -- I should have specified, but I couldn't find a public domain picture.
