I enjoyed...Saw your review over at Read the Nobels. I enjoyed the one book of Mahfouz that I read, Autumn Quail, though I cannot say it was spectacular. So I've always wondered if any others would interest me. Sounds like this is still worth a read. I remember the politics of Egypt from the fifties, I was a military brat at the time in Europe.<br />A very nice review.
