  1. I have read five books for the European Challenge. I tried to obey all the rules you gave which were very simple to follow. If I need to redo any part of the challenge, please write me in my email. You know the addy.

  4. I set out on this challenge with the goal of completing the full list of 50. I'm happy to report I made it 3/5 of the way there! 2017 turned out to be my definition of not quite reaching my goals, but leaving me proud of the results anyway. 30 different countries is just fine by me. On a related note: I now know way more about WWII than I did before.
The final list as it stands (all books have reviews linked on the review page):

Albania - The Palace of Dreams by Ismail Kadara
Austria - Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl
Azerbaijan - Gentlemen of the Road by Michael Chabon
Belarus - Voices from Chernobyl by Svetlana Alexievich
Belgium - The Adventures of Tintin Vol I by Herge
Bosnia and Herzegovina - People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks
Bulgaria - The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
Croatia - Girl at War by Sara Novic
Czech Republic - The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera
Denmark - The Elephant Keeper's Children by Peter Hoeg
Finland - The Rabbit Back Literature Society by Pasi Ilmari Jaaskelainen
France - An Officer and a Spy by Robert Harris
Germany - Siddartha by Hermann Hesse
Greece - The Marathon Conspiracy by Gary Corby
Hungary - The Accidental Empress by Allison Pataki
Iceland - The Blue Fox by Sjon
Ireland - Chestnut Street by Maeve Binchy
Italy - Saving Italy by Robert M Edsel
Monaco - Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
Netherlands - Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
Norway - The Son by Jo Nesbo
Poland - Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
Portugal - The High Mountains of Portugal by Yann Martel
Russia - Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
Spain - Love in Lowercase by Francesc Miralles
Sweden - The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson
Switzerland - Yes, Chef by Marcus Samuelsson
Turkey - Snow by Orphan Pamuk
Ukraine - Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky
UK - So You've Been Publicly Shamed by Jon Ronson

57% were by authors from the designated country in case you were wondering. I'd still very much like to hit the rest of the countries in Europe. I think I'll keep picking away at the list in 2018.

    Thanks again for hosting!
