MY BOOK BEGINNING

Early this morning, 1 January 2021, three minutes after midnight, the last human being to be born on earth was killed in a pub brawl in a suburb of Buenos Aires, aged twenty-five years, two months and twelve days.

-- The Children of Men by P. D. James.

I put off reading this because I thought it would be too sci-fi for me. It isn't. It is alternate history or dystopian, but not really sci-fi. It is terrific! It is about England in 2021, 25 years after the entire human race became infertile and the last babies in the world were born.

  3. I'm not sure this would be my type of read, but it might be something my husband would read...will have to tell him about it.

    Have a great weekend!

  6. This is a great book. Unfortunately I saw the movie first, which I enjoyed, but it was so different from the book.

  8. I am very interested in seeing how you like this when you are done. I had planned to read it but thought it would be too depressing.

  10. It's been quite a while since I read this one. For me it was okay...but I think that had more to do with my expectations. I was in my full-blown SF phase then and I wanted it to be more Sci Fi.
