Teaser Tuesday: The I Hate to Cook Book

Another good gambit, when a Potluck is under discussion, is to move in fast with the dessert. You say, "Girls, I'll bring my wonderful Hootenholler Whiskey Cake!"
-- The I Hate to Cook Book by Peg Bracken (50th Anniversary Edition).

She goes on  to give a recipe for some kind of easy, dense pound cake that you wrap in aluminum foil and keep in the fridge like a fruitcake for six months, adding extra whiskey occasionally.

Count me in!

Teaser Tuesdays is hosted by Should Be Reading, where you can find the official rules for this weekly event.

This is such a fun and funnt teaser and it also left me wondering if there was such a cake as the wonderfully named Hootenholler Whiskey Cake!

And to my delight, there is!

Not only did I get a good chuckle from your teaser but I think you've sold me on this book!

I *so* want this book! Isn't it funny that the year after it was published, Julia Child arrived on the scene with Mastering The Art of French Cooking?

Thanks for all the comments. Sorry I didn't respond individually -- I fell off the blogosphere for a bit.

I am definitely going to make this cake this year. Yum!
