I really enjoyed two of Johnson's earlier books about Americans in France -- Le Divorce and Le Mariage. I think this one is going to be just as good.
All three are on my French Connections list.

ReplyDeleteI like this set of covers on her French-ie books. I see that there is a new edition on Amazon that has a cool, but much different cover, which irrationally makes me want to have that set. Silly.

I haven't read any of these but my library has them and they look interesting. I haven't seen the movie Le Divorce either although I do like some of Kate Hudson's films.
ReplyDeleteThe first sentence makes me wonder if the book is set in the area where the avalanche is or if the main character had planned to go to the ski resort but can't.
Looks like fun !! :) This is another book I'd like to read.

Laurel-Rain -- This is the third of her book that I've read, but I see she has a long list of them. I am going to have to go back and find some of her earlier books because I really enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteChristina -- The book starts in the village where the avalanche happened, where several characters are there skiing. But when two of them are injured, their relatives gather from other places at the resort. I think, though, that it is going to move to Paris.

I hadn't heard of Diane Johnson before, but this book sounds like something I'd like. I totally understand what you mean about wanting to own particular covers. I think bookshelves and the covers of books displayed evoke a particular mood in a room. Some covers are just made to be displayed...
