Opening Sentence of the Day: Julie & Julia

. "At seven o'clock on a dreary evening in the Left Bank, Julia began roasting pigeons for the second time in her life." Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously by Julie Powell This is the last of the four books I am reading for the Spice of Life Challenge. After the first 50 pages, I am torn between, "I love reading this book!" and pea-green envy that I didn't think of something like this myself. .

I hadn't been interested in reading this book until you posted that opening sentence.

I can't wait for Xmas because this book is on my list, and good lass that I am, I won't read it until then!

I agree about the envy of not thinking Julie's idea first!

I have mixed feelings whenever I think, I not only could have written this, I should have written it.

In this case, I like the sentence, but my kitchen skills wouldn't give me anything to back it up with for the rest of the book.
