That won't do. How about this, from the first chapter, "The Aristocrats":
"William Duer was running for his life."
That's better. Off to a good start. Although, at first glance, I do not know what to make of this little book. I am reviewing it for the July edition of the Internet Review of Books. It sounded good and has received favorable press. But flipping through it, I don't know. It is short, the print is really big, and there are even illustrations. I'm not looking for a text book, but hopefully this isn't too fluffy.

Opening Sentence of the Day: Wall Street

Is this a novel or non-fiction? The opening sentence implies a novel-like book but the title seems to hint at facts. And the illustrations have me completely confused.

ReplyDeleteInteresting point, AAC. It is a non-fiction history book, but from what I gather, relies heavily on anecdote.
